I am starting to learn to drive, I was gifted a 2004 peugeot 206. The cd player takes the cd, sounds as if its trying to read it, but automatically ejects cd soon after. The radio works fine, any suggestions? I have ordered a cleaning cd already

Have you tried other CD's? If you did then its likely the laser is damaged/dirty inside the CD player.

I have tried a few cds and all the same. I had an old cleaning cd but none of the fluid for it, that didn't do anything. I have a cleaning cd ordered from ebay, I can't think of anywhere that still would sell them. Any other ideas?

Are they original music CD's or ones recorded on a computer CD/DVD drive? If the latter some older CD players can be a bit fussy about recordable CD-R's, or alternatively they weren't actually created as proper music CD's but just as a collection of MP3's.

    new radio / CD player.

Fecking around with these things when they give bother is often a waste of time and effort and you end up replacing it anyway.

Original cds, I am hoping to get this working as I have more important things to fix for the nct

I can not find an original replacement online. A different cd player would mean the controls behind the wheel would not work

Fit a new one with blutooth and just use spoify or itunes rather than mickeying around with CDs.

Was thinking I would eventually have to do that, was just hoping someone might know how to get it working so I won't have to put money into the radio until I have the rest paid for

You can get a patch lead to make those work with a new radio as long as the new unit is compatible with steering stalk control(most are).

Try partfinder.ie to find scarp yards that have the same model in. They should have some standard radios lying around.
I may actually have one myself, I'll check later.

Sound lad, I had a look there and emailed a few people near me. If you get a chance to check if you have one later that would be great, cheers

Good luck waiting for an email back. You'd be best calling them. Don't pay too much for a secondhand radio. A new pioneer can be had for €60 and with the wiring harness adapter and patch lead for steering controls it still should come in under €100

To use steering controls on the Peugeot you'll need an adapter, as far as I know though you may not need a wiring harness.

    Radio - €60:

    Fascia Plate - €10:

    Adapter - €42:

This is a universal one so you'll probably have to program it to your liking through your PC or so.

    Total: €112.00

You could also opt for a programmed adapter for your car on eBay, if you can wait a while for steering controls, would make it that bit easier though - €22 with Free Postage if you use Parcel Motel or ParcelWizard (both would cost roughly 4 euro):

Or you can go for OEM again and pick one up on eBay for around 40 bucks including postage:
