Ford Crash Repair

    Hello,

Our S-Max got badly rear ended few weeks back and insurance has come thru and agreed to repair it. The price of repairs is bordering on the value of the car but all the same I want to repair it, get it back on the road and likely sell it.

Anyone know good independent crash repair shops who can do a job as good as Ford dealer or for extensive repairs does it need to be done via Ford? I looked at likes of Dennings but they seem to have their list of manufacturers they repair for so wondering is there a Ford equivalent that would be cheaper than main dealers?

Ford are coming back with over 6k worth of work so its a big job that requires lots of labour.

    Thanks for any help
    Paddy

Ford are possibly sub letting the work to the likes of Dennings anyway. Any body shop with any manufacturer approval is a reasonable assurance that they work to a good standard.

If it's going through insurance and a 3rd party claim (I assume if you were rear ended) why are you looking to reduce the cost? If they've agreed to repair then you are in the clear.

Taking it through the main dealer will ensure a fairly comprehensive and reasonably transparent repair process for something this extensive IMO and would stand better to the car, particularly if you are selling it on and it has had extensive repairs.

Thanks... was a foreign insurer and I think, but yet to confirm, they may be just transferring the cost direct to me so if I can get a cheaper quote then I may save the extra. Have to discuss with my wife as the flip side is we are getting a car fixed that probably would not even sell for the amount we are getting but I guess when you have a car from new and know all about we will probably want to hang onto it another few years as we are not in a position to go out and use the money and buy a newer car. Decisions.. Decisions.

Yes, was thinking same that Ford probably are subbing it out to someone else so I may see can I push Ford down a little on the price.

    Appreciate the help.

If they're paying you directly they may deduct the VAT.

Where are you located OP? My mother in law just got some bodywork done, third of the price of one of the top bodyshops, expected it to be well dodgy but was flawless. Was really amazed.
