Can I send off both an invalidity pension and disability allowance application or do I have to choose one to apply for? Obviously I don't expect payment from both but do they allow us to apply like that. Both payment criteria applies.

Well they kinda serve different purposes

So which catagory do you fit into

disabilty - expecting to be out of work at least 1-2 years, but do expect to return to work at some point, this is also a means tested payment

invalidity - Have the needed contributions to apply, and are expected to be out of work in the long term with no definate return to wor date. alsothis isnt means tested but is a taxable source of income

I would apply for the one that fits you best, i dunno how theyd see you applying for both and if it happened you were granted both could cause confusion

Thanks i was actually under the impression that i had to be not available for work for just 12 month for both, my illness will likely last much much longer but dont know if I'll be unavailable for ever as such. Hmmmm think I'll go with the disability allowance route

You most certainly can apply for both simultaneously and applicants do this all the time. There’s no need to inform one section that you’re also applying to the other.
Don’t forget to attach a letter from yourself to each application describing how your ailment will prevent you from being available to work long term.

This isn’t true. People apply for both at the same time and it doesn’t cause any confusion.
