Going from university to state body

    Hi guys

Ive worked as a senior administrator (fixed term contracts) and ungraded in an irish university for 7 years. I was also one of the last staff to be admitted to their defined benefit pension scheme before it was closed off. Ive now been offered EO position with state body. Any idea if I would be wasting my time trying to get incremental credit for my time in the university? I would be taking 10grand pay drop otherwise :(

Are you still working at the University?

    Are you happy there?

Why take a 10k pay drop?

Have you worked there for seven years with no breaks in contracts?

Do you have reason to believe you might be let go?

Have they let other people go?

Are you necessary in the office or would they be fine if they got rid of you? (Difficult question I know, but we all need to ask ourselves this one).

Do you have education and skills which would help you walk into another job?

I think it would have to be in an analagous grade to have any chance f incremental credit - your best bet is to push for a CID in your current job probably.
