Audi A4 190PS TDI or TFSI?

    Hello,
I'm thinking of bringing a recent A4 Avant over from the UK. Hopefully a 181 equivalent 190PS (hopefully a black edition if they drop in price a bit in the next 6 months) - either a TDI or TFSI, maybe quattro.

Thing is, many of the available cars over there are petrol now, whereas here all the available cars here are TDI really, so the TFSI definitely hasn't caught on much in Ireland from what I can see (I think 2 or 3 150PS TFSI on carzone.ie vs a couple of dozen TDI).

To be honest I wouldn't have a strong preference for either, - my mileage would probably be average with a mix of shorter and longer runs, so either would work for me really.

I'm just wondering if a bigger petrol engine (190PS) might be bad for resale a few years down the road. I'd be fine with petrol, but wonder if it might be hard to move on later.

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks...

There’s a lot of talk about what the government here might do to diesels, but honestly I still think the demand for diesel is here and will be for a good while yet.

Nobody knows for sure what way the future used car market will play out. Personally I think diesel will have a use here for at least another 10 years anyway as we simply don't have the infrastructure in place to just all ditch them.

So my advice is to buy the car that suits your needs and usage rather than the next owners.
