'Women on the Verge' is a new comedy co-created by Sharon Horgan which will be set in Dublin.

It is based on Lorna Martin’s novel ‘Woman on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown’

Eileen Walsh (Pure Mule) is going to star as Alison, a woman who gets back with her boyfriend after a number of very messy one-night stands.

Kerry Condon’s (Rome, Better Call Saul) character Laura is a journalist whose physical relationship with her boss may be the ruin of her entire career and Nina Sosanya (W1A, Last Tango in Halifax) plays Laura’s best mate, Katie. On Katie’s advice, Laura heads to Sharon Horgan’s psychotherapy office.

Starts tomorrow but I have not seen any trailers for it. Maybe I shouldn't skip through ad breaks so much.

RTE is giving it large advertising both this and Amy Huberman's new "comedy"

I might give this a try given the ensemble cast and Horgan's involvement

Yes , it was very painful each of the actors have really really annoying accents. Not sure if they are their own or put on.

I really enjoyed episode 1 and will definitely be tuning in next week.

Sharon Horgan mustn't irritate people as much as Amy Huberman, going by the amount of posts in the threads of each of their series.

Sharon Horgan does not get hyped up in Irish media...she also has a talent (if a little one dimensional) for comedy writing...she well deserves the opportunities being afforded to her.

Who convinced Amy Huberman she was funny in the first place, that is what I want to know...being funny is only the start of being a talented comedy writer, she isn't even that, I don't care how many "hilarious tweets" Irish media ram down our throats....

WOTV was ok...bland and tired is how I'd describe it...

I wasn't really commenting about the two women themselves - more the attitude of posters, ie. long thread giving out about specific celebrity, in contrast to the short thread for the well-written and produced show.

And this is in the television board - not even after hours.

Ya, the hype/exposure/opportunities Amy gets is completely disproportionate to what her "talents" deserve, therefore more people will have an opinion (or attitude) on her and more negative than positive...same goes for anyone else who get more hype/exposure than they deserve.

I watched it - was disappointed - thought it was only OK. Had expected better when I heard the names Sharon Horgan & Eileen Walsh

It's very bland, I'd also think on the writers wanting to be edgy, no one on Irish TV has had sex in a bathroom, though I think that's been written into many past RTÉ2/n2 dramas.

Eileen Walsh's characters reaction to her exes exploits was excellent "What did your friends call me".

Both shows are setting TV alight.

Emmet Kirwan is an unfortunate casting, oh he's in Hollyoaks the Brits will know him!

It's pretty awful, surprising as Sharon Horgan is normally a very good writer.

The accents are distracting; but, aside from that, it shows promise.

what's wrong with the accents, what's the deal with accents on boards?

I just googled Kerry Condon. I presumed she wasn't Irish, her accent is so inconsistent in the show, but she is.

I enjoyed it. I see it is been shown on the same evening (Thursday) on the UK channel W at 10pm.

The first episode on W got 94,000 viewers (0.7%).

According to the Ratings thread on the Digital Spy forums in the UK the third episode on W got 33,000 viewers.

    Not looking good.

95,000 also on RTÉ 2, W is not a mainstream channel.

Is her accent inconsistent? I have seen a lot of the stuff Kerry Condon is in and is generally how she speaks. As she plays a character that is supposed to be really annoying, maybe she accentuates it a bit.

It's not consistent with the rest of her family.
