I recently bought my family home (single storey bungalow) from my parents and while they owned it it was extended on the side and front by about 45m² back in the early 2000's. Basically they increased the footprint of the house by another 50%
They got planning permission to do this extension.

I was wondering now that the house is in my name can I extend the back of the house by about another 40m² or is the house as extended as can be allowed?

Even after this second extension we will still have over 25m² of a back garden.

    Thanks.

Subject to planning you can extend again.
You cannot enjoy the exemption as the granted application already uses up the full 40 Sq. M.

Thanks for the reply. I'll start to get quotes and see what kind of figure it's coming in at.

The work will basically be extending out the last two rooms at the back of the house a kitchen and a bedroom.

Will look to add an ensuite to the bedroom.
