    Good afternoon,

Can anyone recommend a nice non-responsible Psalm for a wedding service?

We are looking to have it chanted by the soloist

I presume this is a religious service you're talking about?

    What does non-responsible mean?

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

Guessing a psalm that doesn't require programmed responses from the audience at key junctures. Sounds like the Christianity forum might be a better bet.

OP, If it ain't religious and you're looking for a decent solo number, I was always very taken with Sinead O'Connor's take on 'Nothing compares to you', and while not a psalm pe se, she was known to don a frock by times ;) Could be a nice one for a wedding.

Song about a breakup not best for a wedding surely?!

Ah crap - this is the second time I've posted here in stead of the Catholic forum!

    Sorry!

Would you consider something from 'song of songs'?

Doesn't stop people using "I'm like a bird, I'll only fly away"

    We used this

    (not in a church though!)

If you're looking for something completely secular I'd suggest this. It was sung a capella at my cousin's wedding and there wasn't a dry eye in the room.

Since the song is about a breakup and deals with grief, loss, pain, regret and all the flowers dying, it might not be primo wedding material. Just sayin'.

I wonder if you really mean to have a Psalm, or just some appropriate music. Psalms are songs of praise for God, songs of thanksgiving, laments. Its years since I sang any Psalms but I wouldn't have chosen them for either a church or secular wedding. This is an example of what I used to sing:

    Knock yourself out! :D
