Signing Off Query

    Hi,

I've been unemployed since June and have been receiving weekly job seekers since then. I'm starting a new job next week, and just wondering 2 things:

    (1) Do I need to sign off somehow, or just stop collecting it? If I need to sign off, what exactly do I do?

    (2) I won't get paid for 4/5 weeks after I start my job - am I allowed to keep claiming until then? If not, is there any alternative arrangement? I'd be fairly stuck without something especially as my costs will increase (travel, work clothes etc.)

    Thanks for any help

    1) Yes you need to inform them and sign off, you can contact them this week and give your start date.

2)the community welfare officer has provision for payments while you wait for your first pay cheque. I availed of this and they were very helpful and it was an easy process. When you go in to sign off, they can give you details of the local office you need to contact.
