Change of plan. I need a 4 wheel drive

Ok guys. We've decided we don't need a 7seater.
Friends have advised us to get a 4 wheel drive due to where we now live in Kerry.
You got me a Skoda a few years ago that was faultless bar the usual.
Still going at 160k and 10 years old.

Can you find me a car?
Max budget is 20k.
4 WD. 5 seats. 2.0 litre. Auto if possible ( not a must).
Would like a decent spec and it needs to seat my wife who is 6'2". It will be her car.
If it can be got in Kerry area all the better.
I travelled to Kerry from Dublin for the Skoda.

Do you need high ground clearance? If not then the Octavia/Superb estate is available in 4wd and you have the Scout version that has a bit more ground clearance though they are more expense and rarer.

I thought about importing but really don't have the time.
I'm working in Dublin. Living in Kerry so only see the kids at weekends. I can't afford to give up that time hunting for a car

The Mitsubishi Outlander springs to mind, available in both diesel and plug in petrol/hybrid.

We have an Audi Q5. Pretty happy with it. It’s off road occasionally but mainly on road. Tall husband likes it. Auto box is nice. It worked well in the snow.

Not all XC70 are AWD. Hard to tell on that but there's no AWD badge on the back so could be FWD.

What do you mean by 5 seats?

For 5 actual seats and awd you need a at least a mid-sized SUV.

Winter tyres and snow chains. Plenty of people live in areas with worse weather than ours and survive with 2 wheel drive. The only slight advantage 4x4 has is getting started as getting stopped it's no different, getting stopped is more important than getting going.

I just bought a 2015 ford Kuga titanium AWD.
180 bhp.
80k km on the clock.
Picking it up next week.

sis-in-law ran one for a few years, no issues, upgraded to the new model recently.

Only issue I can think of is that it is not really a 5 seater.

Seats are big enough to suit our needs. We have a second car if needed.

Well I finally picked up my Kuga today.
I found out how 2 of the most important functions work on my drive home.
The cruise control and speed limiter:)
I have to say, it's a sweet drive in comparison to my 10 year old Octavia.

If only I had another 20k in my pocket!!
