Reasonable salary expectation?

What would be a reasonable salary expectation for a developer with 5 years experience?

I know it can depend on stack etc. but as a general guide; what would be a figure for a permanent role you would not go below?

It can also vary greatly dependent on location. In my field, 5 years experience gets you 80k+ as it's very niche still. For Java, 50-60k is probably about right

Very true. I can only speak knowledgeably of C++, but approx salaries right now for five years experience:

    Limerick: 40-50k
    Cork: 45-55k
    Dublin: 50- 60k

    Remote out of Germany: 40-60k
    Remote out of UK: 50-70k
Remote out of New York: 80-100k
Remote out of Silicon Valley: 100-150k

(Obviously for remote roles with just five years of experience, you'd need to have a rare specialist skillset in C++ to have any chance of employment at all e.g. low latency combined with machine learning and DevOps for example)

I wouldn't go for anything below $1500 per month, given that it is the wage min for such job like this in my country. But it also depends on your location, how long the company you intend to work for has been in business, as well as their pricing policy.

    I hope this makes sense

This. If you've experience in specific SDKs or are a principal developer in a popular open source project you can get decent money working remotely, though often on a short term project basis. A couple of guys I use charge $100 and $130 per hour respectively, and to be fair can come back with fantastic results in a short time frame by leveraging substantial amounts of existing code they're already familiar with. I ask for a rough price and it comes in slightly under more often than slightly over and in every case has represented great value.

Personally I prefer to pay based on results rather than experience. One programmer with fives years experience might be productive, competent and create reliable results consistently. Another might be totally useless and more of a liability than an asset. If you know you can deliver real value, you should look for a salary that reflects that value.

Thanks folks. Is 50-60k considered a good senior dev salary in Dublin? I would have thought more to be honest.

More specifically I am a database developer, specifically Oracle. I see a few PL/SQL roles on offer at €70-80k for 4-5 years experience, but I don't know if these are just fishing salaries (to get people to interview). I had read that SQL roles were in demand, but its hard to know.

Someone with ten to fifteen years experience in database optimisation certainly could be on 80k+ in Dublin. But they'd generally be a good bit broader in skillset with that number of years, getting more towards DevOps which is a very hot market right now. A DevOps colleague of mine I'm working with is turning down offers for €130k right now, he says it's not enough to make him consider moving employer, especially as they don't work him too hard here, and they probably would elsewhere.
