Hi my wife is from the Philippines and living in Ireland 4 years. Her Philippines passport will expire the end of this year and there is no embassy in Ireland to go to renew it. So we need to go to London. Does anybody know if we can fly from Dublin or Belfast (we live in dundalk) without applying for a UK visa. I'm thinking Belfast is a domestic flight. She has pps card and gnib card. Can they be used as travel ids. I'm Irish national myself . There are more flights from Dublin with Ryanair but I think they are strict. Had a issue with them before . Thanks for any advise

She will need a UK visa. Shes cant go to N.Ireland without one so that doesn't solve your problem. If it doesn't expire before end of year can you not get a visa and travel over there now? And ryanair is passport/EU National id only.

Google is your friend...lots of info here

I'm presuming you're Irish. Has she applied for EU treaty rights? If she has that, then she can travel to the UK without a visa as long as you travel with her.

We are in northern Ireland most weeks (whether you need a visa or not). I wonder what needs to be shown in Belfast airport. Also my wife has a stamp 4 visa. Originally got that on zimbrano grounds(parent of Irish child). I was told if we show marriage certificate we should be ok ?

The Philipines Embassy do "outreachs" to Ireland severals times a year. most recent were March and May, not sure when the next one is, keep an eye on the London Embassy site, they book out fast.

London is not the only option, There is a Philipine Embassy is Spain, a friend did this last year. Visa Requirement for your wife to visit spain are easier than UK, and turn around is faster. He also got in a few matches.

Legally your wife needs a visa to travel to visit any part of the UK, even Northern Ireland, but it is not unknown for people to travel to Belfast, to get a flight to London, and maybe the risk of getting caught is low.

There is no 'not', she needs a visa in northern ireland. Unlikely to be caught but are you prepared for the outcome if you are stopped for some reason?

Unless something changed recently, the UK does not really follow this properly.

John Ferris the consul used to do great work, help process passport renewals etc from Dublin.(voluntarily assisted by his wife)
With a change of government in Manila a full embassy was set up here with full complement of staff, ambassador etc. they did less. This is an example of the carry on by the embassy, https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/filipino-diplomat-accused-of-hiring-maid-for-just-25-26657828.html. the embassy i believe was withdrawn.
