CAT Query

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a query on CAT.

So in my hypothetical scenario say a child inherits a farm worth €400,000 and qualifies for agricultural relief thus reducing the value of the asset by 90% then for the purposes of CAT the farm is valued @ €40,000

And currently the tax free threshold between a parent and child is €310,000.

Does this mean that the child can still inherit €270,000 (€310,000 - €40,000) before they are over the threshold and then become liable for 33% tax rate on inheritance?
