Applying for Paternity Benefit

Has anyone here applied for and received Paternity Benefit? I am currently on 2 weeks off work following recent birth of my third child. I have applied for Paternity Benefit through MyWelfare.ie and supplied required documentation. When I log in to get status update all it says is "An officer will be looking at your application soon". This update is unchanged since I submitted my application.

There are no contact details for queries, no confirmation of who the officer is that will be looking after my application or when there will be any update.

I only submitted the application a week ago so its not terribly delayed just yet. However, it would be great to know that it is being looked at, and that I have provided all requirements. I dont even know how I could confirm that.

I have and did. Why do you worry about the status update? Should not your employer worry about getting the money from the Social Welfare Dept. to pass to you?

Not in this case. My company reduced my salary by €240 for 2 months and I have to recoup from Social Welfare.

I see, in my case the company paid me the amount the SW would give me and then the company recouped those sums from the SW. But apparently this is not a requirement for the employer to do that (citizensinformation).
Paternity Benefit is paid directly into your bank or building society account (a current or deposit account, not a mortgage account) or you can choose to have it paid directly into your employer's bank account.

In my case it was paid to the company's bank account.

I suppose you can call your local Intreo centre and ask them about your application.

You’ve had confirmation that they’ve got your application so it’s in hand. There’s considerable backlog at the moment due to staffing issues.
Ring 1890 690690 have your PPSN handy or paternityben@welfare.ie if you like.

Thanks Victor, my HR were in no way helpful when I went in to ask them about it. They pretty much laughed me out of the room and said if it was a woman arranging her maternity benefit she would have it all sussed already.

They did complete their form though which I have submitted to Welfare.

I haven't really received any confirmation. I have just logged into Welfare.ie and it has that holding message saying it will be looked at. I understand about the backlog etc so am not jumping up and down at the moment. I will give it another week and see if the holding message changes to say my case is being looked at.

Thats useful to have those contact details, I hadn't even had them. Thanks for your help.
