Hi there, about to file a return for the first time - have been a sole trader since 2017, so it's my 2017 tax & 2018 preliminary tax.

I have an accountant and am about to send him all the details so hopefully will be all good to meet the Oct 31 deadline, but just wondered, do I need to apply for ROS access myself if I've appointed him my agent? Like does he fill it all in to that system and then I actually file online myself, or do I pay him and he files for me?

(s)he files it as your agent, but there is no harm if you also register so that you can see when things are filed.

If you/your agent are filing online, you have until 14th Nov to finalise.
