    Does anyone know how the tenant's portion of the rent is calculated, is it a fixed amount no matter how much the total rent is or is it a percentage of the total rent?

    It’s differential rent so it’s means tested against your entire household income. So basically the more income your household has the more your portion will be.
    Then the rent limits come into it. Once again, simply put, if the total monthly rent the landlord is asking is below the rent limit for your area and your circumstances then fine.
    But if the monthly rent is above that amount then YOU WILL BE PAYING THAT EXTRA AMOUNT DIRECT TO THE LANDLORD, NOT THE HAP!!

    Just curious about HAP means-testing;

    What percentage of your income do you pay to the local authority?
    I think I read 15% of your net income somewhere but I can't find this on any of the official websites.

    When the local authority means-test you, does means-testing also include how much cash you have in your bank current account?

    Answered above. Not a flat rate
