I only do 15000km a year so fuel costs wouldnt bother me but the 640i is 2 years newer with lower mileage for the same price.

    Is it worth going for?

Apart from mpg is the 640d better than the 640i in anyway?

    Any opinions welcome

Has more torque. Apart from that, the petrol probably handles a bit better than the diesel due to a lighter nose and Jesus it will sound beautiful.

I didn't even think there were any 640i sold here.

I haven't seen any for sale here much if at all, perhaps OP is looking at UK cars and managed to find a suitable example.

Given the choice of an equally specced 640i vs 640d I'd probably opt for the i with the sort of driving I normally do, the chances of me finding that are really tiny though.

Never drove the 640i but should be nice and if your not pushed about mpg go for it. The only downside is it might be harder to sell in the morning.

Is the petrol in the 640 as reliable as the diesel 640d? The diesel engine is considered good in that regard I think?

Had a look at AutoTrader there....all 640i seem to be the 2 door, not sure if you're looking for a GC or not.

And strangely loads are SE models which I thought was strange to be honest. 6 series SE? No thank you

You’ll generally struggle to find issues with a 6 pot BMW petrol bar injectors in my experience. Check the wishbone arms on any 6 series that has 20s especially as they tend to wear after small enough mileage. About €800 to put right at BMW prices.

The petrol one (assuming specs are equal) - haggle the price down as far as you can.

The only downside I see will be when you try and sell it on or trade it in you can expect the standard sheep bleating / moaning - tax, fuel economy etc.

Don't think I have enough kidneys to sell to afford that.

    Beautiful inside and outside though
