Having to change the clutch and flywheel on my accord 08 upwards model. 2.2 dtec. My mechanic said flywheel is knackered and needs switching aswell. Parts are 1000 + VAT alone.

Any alternatives or cheaper sources? Haven't got the cash. Second hand ones around?

    Thanks

There is a LUK kit on ebay for 570 stg, I am pretty sure the OEM clutch is a LUK as well but stand to be corrected.

I'm sure there are second hand ones available as well, try for a low mileage crashed car.
If you want a stronger clutch the Type S version is heavier duty and the same fitment.

No mechanic will fit a second hand DMF

Clutch was slipping. When he stripped it he seen flywheel was toast.

Are solid flywheels that bad (or even an option)

Thanks folks. Gave up and just paid the 1k for the one the mechanic found. Was getting depressed just thinking about it. Thats an insane price for a clutch. Don't know how the second hand market can hold up for these. 1.5k clutch on a 4k car and thats a 08. When they are only worth 3k next year do they get scrapped for a dodgy clutch. Madness

Some parts are expensive for sure, How much mileage is on that original clutch?

130K miles. Mechanic said the flywheel was complete toast. First time I tried to 'treat' myself to a nice car. Ah well, back to skoda and toyotas from here on.

Cox In Uk would have sent those to you for about 20 euro so you could have the parts back for 650 or so

Honda parts are crazy money in ireland.

Some stuff is crazy , other parts are cheaper than the UK.
Universal Honda is a strange setup.

Unless you had it from new you don't know how it was treated before you had it.
Stop start in cities is very hard on them, Country roads and motorway is usually a lot easier.
I wouldn't be in any rush to sell it now it has been done, it'll probably last for a long time now.
