Medical Card Query

Hi, was hoping for some advice/information on the below.

My mam lives pretty much on the border between 2 counties. She has a medical card.

Her local doctor has not been at all helpful with a health issue that is affecting her daily quality of life. He's an older doctor who only prescribes her painkillers rather than trying anything else.

She'd like to try another doctor in the next county, but that is a different Local Health Office. But that doctor is still much closer than any other alternative doctor in her own current LHO and would be much easier on her as travel isn't easy.

Citizens Information says you can change LHO if you move, but is there any option for her to do this without moving?

    Thanks

She takes a change of GP form to her preferred GP asks him if he’ll take her on (he doesn’t have too) if he does he’ll fill in the form and she can send it in to medical cards and they’ll consider it.
