    Hi there,

We are just starting to plan our wedding for next year & I wanted to get some thoughts on wedding insurance and whether or not it's a good idea?

Most people I've spoken to haven't bothered but I'm leaning towards on the basis that two couples I know, their photographer cancelled on the morning of their wedding  & they both had a lot of trouble afterwards with refunds etc.

I've also just started planning and I'm definitely buying some insurance. You just never know what could happen and I think the peace of mind is worth it. In the grand scheme of wedding costs, it's probably one of the cheaper things anyway!!

Nay for us, didn't even consider it (well we didn't really know there was such a thing but if we did we still wouldn't have got it). I really can't see a need for it at all to be honest.

Snap! We are just looking at wedding insurance at the minute. We are going to get some as know if didnt I’m sure we would regret it. Has anybody got any suggestions of good places to get insurance?

It’s cheap as chips so better to have it and not need it, than skip it and be fûcked if something goes wrong.

I got it. It's the same as any form of insurance, a complete waste of money until/unless you need it.

Can you claim off the insurance if guests don’t pay cash gifts?

Do you mind me asking who you got it with? Thanks

We got our with www.weddinginsurance.ie. They have packages from €34 depending on the cover you want.

I am in the UK but got a provider who catered for overseas weddings.

It wasn't a thing back when I got married, but if I was getting married now I'd definitely be getting it. It's a small price to pay compared to what he rest of the day will cost. Just make sure you read the fine print so you know what is and isn't covered.

If you're getting married in a hotel, do you choose wedding insurance or civil ceremony insurance on weddinginsurance.ie?

We got wedding insurance this year. Pretty certain is was through quotedevil
I could be wrong on that though, the missus did all of the dealing with them.

Anyway, our wedding got postponed because of Storm Emma in March (the bítch)
We only needed insurance for a couple of things, but they paid out almost immediately, and saved us thousands

We used weddinginsurance.ie as well, about 60e last year. It was worth it for the peace of mind as there were issues with the hotel at the time and I just wanted some backup in case something went wrong.

Thanks for all the replies, we decided it'd be foolish not to have it. Small money in the grand scheme of things.
