Do I have an Official Caution?

So basically years back a family member assualted me and brandished a weapon.

I called the Gardai and they were arrested and taken into custody.

I was asked to come into the local Garda station after as said person claimed I attacked them first

Now when I went in the Garda said "I must caution you in relation to...." Can't remember the rest

Basically he went through the other person's statement and asked me to make another statement refuting what teh person claimed

The Gardai charged this person and brought them to court

What I want to know is the official adult caution?

Or is it something more official were I have to meet an inspector or super and get some sort of official document?

I am applying for a job where I need Garda vetting and despite having a clean record I'm afraid it will affect it.

It says it doesn't even list adult cautions but yet lists "specific information"

no it sounds like you were basically given your rights before they interviewed you and took a statement

to get an Adult caution you'd have to be arrested first.

Also afaik adult cautions are not revealed in vetting process so even if you got one it shouldn't affect it.

    Ah ok thanks !

No I was not arrested, the Garda even said it was procedure as they had made a different statement of events to the statement I gave after the other person was arrested and just wanted me to make a second statement refuting it

He did say it was nothing to worry about but was worried

No, it was a statement under caution as you were technically under investigation as a result of the complaint made by the other party. It's a formality more than anything in the circumstances.

Once you gave your version of events, I'd imagine the investigation was discontinued as against you and that was effectively the end of it.
