How would I go about getting Saorview working on this TV?

Looking for something ideally cheap and not essentially standard "bunny ears"

Ideally an outdoor UHF aerial pointing in the direction of your nearest transmitter is recommended - https://www.saorview.ie/en/get/coverage

How well an indoor aerial works will depend on the signal strength/quality where you locate the aerial and this is dependant on your proximity to the transmitter, transmitter power, building construction materials etc.

Test something that looks like this - https://cpcireland.farnell.com/mercury/sto2/set-top-aerial-olympik-2/dp/AP00025

I'd be based in Dublin 8 (South Inner City) so Three Rock looks to be the transmitter.

Would something like this work? I need something indoor, ideally to sit on the ground or at the back of the TV.

The only way to know for sure is to test it, ask them if you can take it back if it doesn't. If you're in an apartment locating it beside a south facing window might also help.

In a house - my finacee has some bunny ears I can rob and test first I suppose before buying something a bit more "fancy". Cheers Cush.

Any spare co-ax cable running up to the attic?
Do you have a sat dish, an external aerial feed can be diplexed/piggybacked on the same cable.

Fancy powered aerials are generally overrated and expensive. An acceptable signal must be precent first.

Nothing - we've digital with (now) Virgin Media in 4 rooms with no external aerials, etc... Can't get a 5th unfortunately (or they want it paid through the roof) so just trying to get Saorview set up in one room.
