    Carers’ Support Grant

The Taoiseach has indicated that the Government plans to restore the Carers Support Grant.

This is an annual payment made to carers by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection.

Mr Varadkar added that the plans will increase carers’ allowance and disability allowance.

I know it’s all a rumour until Tuesday week for the budget but what is Carers Support Grant?

I thought that was the payment carers get in June €1700? Or is this a new one replacing the old one a 2nd Grant people can apply for? And it’s been restored? I never heard of it before how much was it before, is it a once a year payment, monthly, weekly?

Interesting read in the paper non the less

Here’s the link to what I read online

I don’t understand can you explain it more for me so are carers going to be getting another annual payment or just changing the name of the payment?

No it's one annual payment of 1700 it used to be the respite grant but they changed the name because many carers wherent paying for repite care ,so they called it the carers support grant so people could spend it on anything they choose to

But it wasn't stopped people have being receiving the yearly payment as normal the last few years

All of the SW info in that Sun article is wrong.
    It’s made me laugh actually.
    Pension is 243.30
The Carers support grant replaced the Respite Care grant and was restored to 1700 about 3 budgets ago.
No there won’t be a separate grant.
