The "car wifi" symbol has appeared recently in the entertainment screen on my A Class.  My little one was messing around with the buttons and somehow turned it on.  I've looked through all the settings and can't figure out what it is or how to turn it off.  Anyone able to help? Thanks.

    From another forum:
It means your dealer has registered your vehicle with the Mercedes Connect Me service. This allows you to use the Mercedes Me app.

I seen that but I have the car since July 2017 and have the app since then too.  I didn't sign up for any extras in the app, it's just appeared out of nowhere.

Looks like the car's wifi hotspot symbol to me.

That makes more sense. The car is now a wi-fi hotpot and devices can connect to it as in any wi fi zone.

Why would anyone want to make your car a WIFI hotspot ?

I turn on my wifi hotspot on my phone and they connect to that when traveling.

Do hotspot enabled cars need their own sim card with a data plan or how does it work?

Alot of new cars now have a built-in sim card for the emergency SOS call system in the event of an accident, this sim is also used as a wifi hot spot. Some require a subscription service after x number of years while others don't as it's a basic enough service. My 3 year old 5 Series has it too.

I can't see anywhere in the vehicle/system settings about a wifi hotspot.  I even reset the system and it reappeared immediately, removing connected phones didn't do anything either. Strange one
