Hi, I have a 2017 Hyundai I40 and recently I've noticed the gears are very notchy. Hyundai garage checked the car and says it's fine but I'm not convinced. What to do now? And anyone else have the same problem? Thanks in advance

Clutch are giving huge trouble on them.

Gear linkage could be an issue.

They are a notchy shift at the best of times in fairness even when brand new but they are extremely prone to clutch pressure plate fatigue/ failure which makes the gear shift very very very notchy to the point where it's nearly impossible to select gear. Hyundai do cover this under warranty but it needs to be fairly far gone.

I took it to garage today and They say it's ' normal ' I'm not convinced and certainly not happy that a car with 20000kms is making bad noise changing gear like a clump noise.

I sat in a 2018 model and tried that and it was no where near as bad as my gears.

It could be within their realms of normal, have you had the car from new? Whats the bite point like? Is it close to the floor?

Yep, have it since new and I this is my second Hyundai as previously had no bother with gears. It's only when changing gear it's very loud and I only noticed it getting worse around 5000 kms ago

Bring it back, don't leave until fixed.

Wonder should I be getting solicitor involved and maybe getting an engineer to look at car as Hyundai don't seem interested in fixing it for me? I tried to attach video of it but it won't let me

    What's the warranty ?

I'd be patient if the warranty covers it

If its an Irish car its 5 years unlimited mileage warranty.

If its a UK import it will be covered as long as the car comes with a full Hyundai history.

They changed the gearbox in late 2017.The whole internals are different.
