    Today's Mirror
“There is currently no provision for a Christmas bonus in the Department’s allocation for 2018.”
She will then attempt to backtrack by saying that she would still like to pay it.
“However, in the past four years, the Government was ultimately in a position to pay the bonus given the continuing improvement in the financial position.
“I will continue to monitor the financial position and consult with my colleagues and I am hopeful that we will be in a position to pay a Christmas bonus again this year.”
But sources reckon this may be a tactic to prompt Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe to come up with the money.

....and silly season rocks on. Every year, ask a question that can't be answered for another two weeks, vague answer and SHOCK headline.
    Try this on
"DAILY MIRROR HAS NO NEWS TODAY".

Irrelevant really, but I really hate the use of the word 'bonus' for this payment.

Yeah, it's more of a supplement, designed to stop people resorting to moneylenders for the Christmas spend. You get a bonus on gameshows.

The budget is highly secret and the last people to know anything are "journalists" who couldn't find a story if it was in their cornflakes. One thing certain, OAPs vote - they get screwed, governments fall.

Its the Daily Mirror..... What do they know. I'm sure the Christmas bonus will be paid. I just wish they would do something to help people who work. maybe a tax free week at Christmas. Wouldn't that be nice? But it won't ever happen. There's nothing for the PAYE worker in this country
