Help!! Blocking off Back Boiler

    Hi all

Really need help with this and would really appreciate any information/advice. I have an open fireplace and due to age the damper came away years ago. Because the damper came away, the part of the fireplace protecting the back boiler from the flames has also come away. My questions are:

    1. Do I just hire a plumber?
    2.How big/awkward is the job?
    3. Does the boiler need to be blocked off if I decide to get a stove installed?

It's an awkward situation and Winter is coming! You might be wondering why I haven't asked about this long before now and the truth is that other important things had my attention. Thank you again for any suggestions.
