GNIB renewal

    I have been looking for appointments on the GNIB website for over a month daily and nothing seems to be popping up. My card expires in two weeks and I have a business trip booked after my GNIB is set to expire which I cannot miss. I am planning to send the Burgh Quay office a visit to explain my situation, but was wondering if anyone has any tips? What happens if I don't get an appointment on time and return back to the country with an expired GNIB?

    Well when your GNIB expires, it's going to be replaced by an IRP. After you've applied for it, it usually takes about 2 weeks to receive it.

    You need to get to their office tomorrow (queue very early) to explain the situation. Bring all your documents. They may be able to process your application as lots of appointments are no-shows.

    There's no point e-mailing them as they're too busy.

    We have been trying to book an appointment for my wife for two whole weeks and could not find any slot available. At the end, she had to pay someone to get the appointment. The system is a joke and even worse than what it was before. People had to get up early and queue to be seen but at least it was a fair game and you were able to get it on the same day.
