No. He'll have to show separate yard housing and handling facilities and apply for Herd No.

I wouldn't think it would be a wise move to trsnsfer to a teenager in any circumstances.
Realistically, wait to see who he marries before even thinking about transferring land. The risks are huge when then.

The land is separate to the main block and it has its own handling facilities. No accommodation required as its used for summer grazing only and he would continue to do this

Apply to Dept for a separate Herd No. Another option is to lease the land to him but that's your choice. Check taxes and stamp duty etc with your Solr and Accountant before any moves.

I think there is something about having to be 18 or older to qualify for some reliefs. Even if it is an out farm there will still need to be a building/shelter along with the handling facilities for treatment of a sick animal to qualify for a herd number

Jaysus, no land would ever be transferred if your advice was heeded

Fair play to you is what I say, I think it's great to see youth getting it's chance. I know plenty of lads closer to the pension age then they are to your sons age and there still waiting for the farm or even part of it to be transferred.
The other posters are right though he will need to apply for a herd number. A small job really.
