Hi all. how does the arrears scenario work?i am being transferred to DA next week after spending 18 months on illness benefit. my initial application was rejected but my appeal allowed meaning that if I have any arrears at all it will total 13 months. I was on the sick during this time so does that mean there are no arrears?

Have you been getting a payment during this time?

Did you not apply for invalidity pension? If you didn’t then apply right away.
If you get it you will leave the DA to go to IP.
    IP is better.
Your arrears will depend on your circumstances. If your living on your own then you’ll be entitled to the backdated living alone increase and fuel allowance back to when you applied.

I am in my 30's, and don't meet the criteria for that I think. Technically I am alone, i.e have my children staying with me but I do not claim for them as their mother does. I recall ticking the no box for fuel allowance and only after realising it I ticked it incorrectly as I misread the question I guess there is nothing I can do about it now.

Dav fill up the invalidity pension application form and send it in because you’ve nothing to lose. Age doesn’t really come into it. It’s referred to as a pension because it’s PRSI based. Also fill a fuel allowance form and send that into Disabilty Allowance . I hope you have applied for the HBP too.

IP means no prospect of every working again does it? Yes I have PRSI contributions totalling nearly 20 years on and off. Is the fuel allowance form straight forward? Also what evidence do I need for HBP? the Gas/electric and both on PAYG but in my own name. statements issued every 3 months do I send these to DSP?
