I'm mooching around the usual websites looking at spending 2 to 300 quid on a the usual mavic/fulcrum/zonda suspects, for the coming season (rim-braked (shimano 11 speed).

I thought I may as well wave my fanned-out wad of notes around these here parts to see if anyone had a wheelset for sale?

No fixer-uppers or past-their-bests please :pac:, and Dublin area for viewing and collection ideally.

For the budget you have, you should consider the Hunt Aero or Hunt 4 Seasons

Have a set of Miche Synthium with Vittorria Rubino graphite tyres. About 2 years old but only 300 to 400 kms on them. Would take 200ish. Based in Dublin. Happy to meet up.

These lads with white where the red in.

Thanks for the offers all, but I'm going to be very fussy here because realistically, once my good bike goes in the attic in a few weeks these wheels are going to have to do everything from a bit of commuting, to all my winter training, to long hilly weekend spins, to whatever late autumn and early spring sportives I can fit in. Basically constant use til next April. So I want something fresher and a bit better than the aboves.

Those Miche ones sound good but I just don't know anything about them in terms of longevity and durability - I'd rather go with something I know.

@Ckeego - what Hunts would you recommend? I thought they were more like ballpark 500 quid (- I was going to ask you about your fulcrums but they're campag aren't they - I'm getting a crash replacement tcr frame, hence the no callback on the Colnago, lovely though it is.)

If for winter especially, look for durable hubs which can take our weather or cup and cone which are easy to service and I'd definitely want a wide rim, 19/20mm internal or so.

Hunt/cycle clinic have good options at that price.

About €170 would get you the parts to build 105 hubs, decent spokes and this rim from Rose.

250-270(including build) for a wide tubeless compatible wheelset but no issue running with tubes. Cheap enough not to worry about them too much

Current wheelset on the race bike, true, minimal wear, no marks, used all year round, bombproof, even won a race on em! Have them on another thread at 250 - let me know if you have any interest.

I mulled over it for a few weeks and went with the Race Aero over the 4 seasons-main reason being I have the Zondas as a winter wheel, so the Hunts were to be used on the good bike on Autumn/Spring rides but not in crappy winter weather.

The Aeros would also be fine then for races that I wouldn't use deep sections on..

No worries about the Colnago-It looks like it will be with me for good now!!

A Campag cassette/wheel will work just fine with your Shimano11 RD.

Set of handbuilt ambrosio excellence rims on Campagnolo Chorus hubs - with an 11 speed Shimano freehub? Wheels weight about 1600 grams and are bullet proof.

I have the Hunt 4 Seasons with Schwalbe tubeless Tyres. Excellent, year round wheels. Used them to commute through last winter, fast and stiff. Would highly recommend both the wheels and the Pro One tyres. Delivery included in the price. Good service too. I looked at the Aeros but went with the 4 Seasons on the advice of Hunt, given their greater durability.

Have a pair of brand new unused Fulcrum racing sport (Shimano freehub) wheels that came on a new bike but I already have a couple of sets on the go. Selling for €140 with Vittoria Zaffrio pro slick 25c tyres fitted. Based in Cork.

Get yourself some built 32 or 36 hole Open Pros on some good hubs. I run a 32h Open pro with 105 hub on the rear and Askium on the front.
