Blocked pavement in Tivoli

Has anyone noticed the problem with undergrowth/vegetation blocking the footpath in Tivoli. Anyone using the footpath is forced off the footpath and onto the road and often they don`t look behind because joggers for example tend to be focused on going forward. So, they jog off the footpath onto the road and of course traffic coming from behind has to swerve to avoid them. The obstruction is particularly bad on the footpath as you approach the flyover in Tivoli, as you are heading towards the city. This morning, a huge truck sounded its horn and swerved near the dangerous spot, the sound alone was horrific. I was well past the danger point and the truck continued so obviously it did not hit anyone but it is only a matter of time before someone gets killed.

Up until the late 90s there was a council worker who did a great job in Tivoli until he retired. He is badly missed because the undergrowth has gradually become worse and worse every year and this is the first year it has reached the pavement`s edge. By next summer it will be out onto the road itself if it is not cut back. So, what is the problem? Are Cork City Council sleeping on the job?

The n27 footpath between kinsale road RAB and the Bull McCabes was similarly bad for a while. Hedge growth covering the footpath and most of the on-pavement cycle lane.

Low-traffic footpaths like this don't seem to be on the regular schedule, so be a good citizen and email the relevant council department to alert them.

Sometimes things need to be reported, as the council don't have spotters going around.

That hedge is a bloody disgrace. It hasn't been touched for years.Someone in the City Council needs a good kick up the hole.Eating donuts and reading papers all day is all they're good at.

Why not phone them up and ask them to sort it? I have done this with other issues and they were very responsive.

That is good advice. I will do that.
