is it a problem do you think?
It's from a dealer in the North - the MOT was due 2017 and apparently has not been done - the car is a 2014 Kia Sportage
    I did the motorcheck
does the fact that there is no MOT raise any red flags with anyone?
    (clueless)
I'm heading up on Saturday to take a look, i'd be happy to have anyone's advice on this.
    cheers!

Is it on UK reg or NI reg? Motorcheck might not have access to the NI MOT system which is a different system to the UK MOT system which might explain it. If it does and it hasn't a MOT for the bones of a year then I'd be asking why.

WM63XVE is the reg and I Don't know the difference at UK reg or an NI reg. I will be talking to the seller tomorrow so I Will ask about the lack of MOT, is there anything else I should be aware of.
    Thanks for replying.

If in any doubt just find another Sportage, they're not rare. And if it's really cheap they're is always a reason why.

That's a strange one, I did a quick search and it is being sold by Agnew Seat who are pretty reputable dealers. But the UK Gov MOT website checker states that it has never had an MOT, the first was due in January 2017. The car has been taxed and it expired at the end of August this year which means that it must have had some form of MOT, as far as I know it is very difficult to tax a car without an MOT in the UK.

So something doesn't quite add up. Definitely get the dealer to give you a full explanation, when you go to sell the car on in a few years prospective buyers will be wondering the same thing as you are now which will make it difficult to sell if you don't have a geniune reason for the lack of history.

That's a UK mainland reg number rather than NI. Afaik NI residents can drive a UK mainlands registered car without having to re-register it on NI plates. Not sure how that works for the MOT however but I suspect it may have something to do with the lack of information around if or when it did the MOT in NI.
