Any thoughts on a Porsche Cayenne, apart from being rather ugly-ish looking?

I was looking in to getting one recently, on the older models there's an issue where the original coolant pipes should be replaced or they will likely cause trouble.

Any of these type of issues affecting 2016+ models ? Or any other for that matter.

Wouldn't personally buy one as you can get a better handling more comfortable car but saying that, they are nice to be inside off, pretty comfortable, rare, are good to go even the "slow ones", nice presence on the road and I don't think they are ugly like people make out. Certainly nicer than a x5 or q7 to look at.

A friend has a 2015 for two years and hasn't anything bad to say yet but I think mpg is low 20s which may not agree with everyone.

Not a fan off the dash.

    Have you driven one yet?

Never owned one but from a distance (2010-2016 model):

Shares chassis with Toureg and Q7.

Look great in silver with right wheels and colour coded mirror, bumpers, trim etc.

One of the, if not the best, depreciating car around but obviously means expensive to buy.

You will never use all its off road capabilities you've paid for if pottering around town (same as most SUV's though).

Its a Porsche, which is a step up from BMW, Merc, Audi etc.

    I'd buy one :-)

Thanks, didn't test drive any yet, will do after the weekend. Checking the X5 and Q7 tomorrow.

Had a test drive on the new Cayenne. Its ok as it goes. Not a fan of all the buttons inside. Everything was extra and cost sky rocketed for things that were more or less standard on other SUV’s.

Ended up with the Range Rover Sport SVU which I have to say, I LOVE. The new screen layouts are superb, the sound of the engine is just amazing. I know its not Ireland but it is very practical as a very fast SUV.

I tried Merc, BMW and a few American SUVs before this, but for me hands down the Range Rover won... hence it sits in my Garage..;)

I can’t get the Doug de Muro’s video out of my head, where his used RR with bumper to bumper warranty that cost $3 or $6k ended up costing the insurance company another $25k+ ish... having said that I do like to looks of these cars..

Expensive to tax and buy fuel for. I’d imagine it’s expensive to service. Depreciates like a motherfcuker, but great novelty vehicle if you have the money.

Cayenne plug in hybrid is a seriously effective tax dodge of both vrt (14 %) and cheapest road tax, yet 440 bhp petrol.

New SVR gets a 4 year warranty. So no issues. Service so far has been exceptional. A few little niggles but nothing that stops me loving this car. It doesn’t get massive mileage as a Dodge Ram is also available to me... ( I know I am spoilt). Compared to the Cayenne it is a standout car. Cayenne is not exactly a show stopper on the road I have to say.

Turbo Tiptronic S - Bonkers but if you are in the market you might as well go all in.
