18 - 14 through two weeks, maybe this one will get me back on track!

    Jets @ Browns
Browns to get their first win! Defense looked good and the Jets are not a strong team. First win in 600 days or whatever!

    Saints @ Falcons
Saints finally start to click a bit, Falcons with a number of injuries on defense and Sarkessian still (inexplicably) the OC

    Ravens
Ravens will be good at home, Broncos have a good defense but still suspect on Offense. Expect a defensive game here

    Bengals @ Panthers
Hard to pick but Panthers at home, Mixon out, side with Cam

    Giants @ Texans
Texans look a hot mess, Giants not looking fantastic either. Not a game I;m interested in watching but expect to see the blue chip players on NYG pull it out for them

    Titans @ Jaguars
Titans are not good at the moment, no real vision on offence and Blaine Gabbert could be in again. Jags have an excellent defense and Bortles looked better last week

    49ers @ Chiefs
Chiefs firepower to continue with the home opener, 49ers to find success against the Chiefs defense and get some points on the board but not be able to keep pace

    Raiders @ Dolphins
Dolphins are looking like an ok team, not world beaters but the Raiders look pants, have brought in 31 year old DE to try and generate pass rush etc, not looking good for Grudens first year

    Bills @ Vikings
Its the Bills, and its the Vikings. Nothing more needs to be said

    Colts @ Eagles
Return of Wentz, a strong defensive rotation to get after Luck who while looking better does not seem 100% back. This will rest entirely on what Wentz looks like and how the offence gets moving but I'll back the Superbowl champs at home against a Colts team I'm unsure of

    Packers @ Redskins
I like what Alex Smith is doing with this Washington team but Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are in form and I cant see them getting stopped here

    Chargers @ Rams
Chargers are good but inconsistent and get in their own way, Rams have a monster defence, Peters was always River's Kryptonite. Rams havent played a murderers row of teams so far so this will be their hardest test but I expect them to be up to it

    Bears @ Cardinals
Cardinals are possibly the only team in the same zone as the Bills at the moment, Kalil Mack will d some damage here. Sam Bradford better watch his knees! Bears to win a low scoring and fairly boring game

    Cowboys @ Seahawks
Both teams with holes, I don't really like this Seattle team but at home against the cowboys who have OL woes that compound when you consider how key their running game is. Again, not a game to watch IMO but Seattle squeak by

    Patriots @ Lions
Lions look lost and the QB has not been performing, NE look strong and will be looking to bounce back post Jags. Also, BB will know what to expect from his ex coordinator so expect a fairly handy win for NE here

    Steelers @ Buccaneers
My head says PIT but my heart says Fitzmagic. Look, they've beaten the Eagles and the Saints, two teams that I have more faith in defensively than the Steelers, I know Fitz will come back down to earth at some point but for now, Tb to go 3-0 and PIT to go 0-2-1

Not looking good for the Jets tonight, the mixture of Todd Bowles/road game/short week is a real recipe for disaster! Hope I'm wrong but this is looking like the Browns first win in forever

They just brought in Mayfield though so I'll be watching the second half all the same. Crowd are pumped about seeing him, so am I to be honest, he looked good in preseason

In 3throws he had more yardage than darnold and tyrod

Been a good day for defenses, if we want to be diplomatic about it!

To be fair, there's some bad bad men in the browns D, they could do some serious business tonight.

Gotta go for 2 here as the browns.

They didn't get it but makes no difference. Offset penalties retry time

Jarvis landry to Mayfield for two.... Tie game going into the 4th

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,004 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

Whole game had a different feel from the minute he came in, don't remember the last time I was excited watching the browns. Need to win it now or it'll just be one more heartbreak, a tie won't do. But the Jets haven't gotten a sniff all quarter on offense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,004 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

Needless to say no sooner did I type that than the Jets have easily their best drive of the half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,776 ✭✭✭raze_them_all_

Taylor lost his job. Baker comes in and leads the browns to a win. Mayfield figured out what Taylor couldn't. Throw the ball to ****ing landry

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

The Browns got the win but am I wrong in thinking they should have went for it at 4th and 2 with 1 minute on the clock and on the Jets 35 with the Jets having no timeouts?

Their punt worked and made the Jets play from inside their 5 but for me you back both your offence and defence in that situation, get the 2 yards and it's game over, miss and they have to go 65 yards in under a minute with no time outs.

I was a good few beers deep in the bar so may have read it wrong looking at it without sound but for me an aggressive winning team puts the game to bed and gets the 2 yards or at least goes for it.

    Watched the final quarter

Browns D is impressive and I guess they showed that Week 1 & 2 also

They play the Raiders next week and have every chance of going 2-1-1

No surprise to see Baker have that kind of impact.

The best QB in this class by far.

Just watched the game in 40. Delighted for the Browns, what a win. Baker turned that game on its head. Fair to say as well that Denzel Ward looks a stud based on the 3 games so far. Browns look like they really hit it with both those picks.

Delighted for the Browns but I feel all this excitement about Mayfield will not last. He wasn't expected to play last night but when teams get to see how he plays I feel he will fall off a cliff.

He backed his d to do what they had done since the end of the first quarter and that was not concede a td. He did the right thing.

Check out Cleveland police twitter last night. Budlight had to open up the fridges with the free beer

That's the problem with rookie QBs - the do well in a couple games until teams get to analyse tape (prime example was Tebow).

To be fair to Mayfield he made some brilliant throws last night. I don't think he will be a franchise qb bit do I think he'll be good for 5 or so wins a season and stop them being blown out every game? Yeah I do and sometimes that's what a franchise needs just a change to stop the losing mentality

I think they are hoping for a little more than a QB who can win 5 games a season. Yes NFL defenses will figure him out but i'd imagine they are looking at him with a ceiling as high as maybe Russell Wilson. Not saying he's going to get there but you're under throwing on him there surely.

Nah, as we all know he's 3/8ths of an inch too short to be the best QB in the draft.

He won't come anywhere near Wilson. Not underthrowing him at all tbh. He's had one game and people are making him out to be the messiah. I just don't see it

How are you not Underthrowing him saying he might win 5 games a season? That's completely writing him off as a serious serious bust.

You're the one sticking your neck out here.

Regardless of going #1. He wasn't going outside of the top 5 and wasn't it confirmed that teams like NE amongst others were coming up the draft aggressively for him if he didn't go #1? Don't think this is the case for a journeyman QB who might get a few wins.

He didn't even throw a TD last night but even the harshest of critics are giving him praise for turning the game on it's head last night.

Not sure what you are not seeing.

Mayfield did good - but one game does not make an NFL QB. Outside of the fact that he is a bit of a headcase - wait and see how he gets on when DCs have a couple of game tapes to analyse.

I hope Mayfield is a good 'un - I miss seeing the Browns challenging for the AFC title. The Drive and the Fumble were two of the best AFC championship games in the past 40 years (helped by the fact that the Broncos won both).

I didn't say he'd be a bust. I said he would help turn the team around. Taking a winless team and getting 5-6 wins a season will change the mentality of that organisation. He is highly accurate but I just don't see him being a pro bowler which is something you'd want from a number one pick

I genuinely think that the Giants would have taken him if he was somehow there at 2.

The way Gettleman phrased his answers after the combine made me think Baker was the actual number 1 on their board.

    I think he'll be a superstar tbh.

I do also remember you thinking Mahomes last year was a dreadful pick, and the Giants were apparently going to take him too as McAdoo loved him. Chiefs traded up and snagged him before us!

I wasn't sold on him at time either, as he was definitely more on the erratic side in college. Andy Reid working wonders again.
