    Car passed all emissions tests in nct 3 weeks ago but failed on bumper alignment. Its now failed on emissions - 3 major emissions fails. It ran the NCT test again the same day and passed one of the same emussions tests but failed the third with no adjustments made only petrol added. I now have a bottle of DIPETANE and am told that by adding it to the engine and driving it hard it might magically pass. Car is an almera and an 06. Any suggestions - full or half full tank of petrol & how much to add? Instructions say 1:200 mix for fuel which doant help much. Feelung somehat despairing. I need that car for work. Never had any emissions note or fail on nct before. Many thanks :(

    Bumper test day - Low idle 0.24 vol PASS
    Next test 3 wks later low idle 2.68 vol MF
    Next test different lane same hour low idle 1.64% MF

    Bumper test day - lambda 1.01 PASS
    Next test 3 weeks later Lamda 0.96 MF
    Next test different lane same hour Lamda 0.97 Pass

    Bumper test day - CO 0.09% PASS
    Next test 3 weeks later -CO 1.33 vol MF
    Next test different lane same hour CO 0.96 MF

    MF = major fail.

    Quarter bottle for quarter tank is what I use
    Chuck another quarter in then when you fill the tank again
    Never any bother with that on my car
    Drive it on the motorway if you can, don't be afraid to drive it on a bit in the revs
    Obviously don't redline it ha
    Send it into NCT as warm as you can,as in do a few runs on dual carriageway or motorway first to get it up to temperature
    Should pass then
    Don't worry about it too much, cheap cars can be got with NCT now for little money
    Dipetane always worked well for me
