EDITED - Original code has reached maximum usage, offer now for €10

N26 are giving new customers €10 for registering.

Create an account with N26 and at the end of registration after entering your password enter the code SG322 or MERCI26.

There is no requirement to deposit €10 (or any money) for this promotion.

For those who do not know N26, it is a 100% mobile online bank that is based in Germany whose principle is simple: no more fees or almost, depending on the account you choose.

By choosing the basic account (excluding Black & Metal), you get a free Mastercard debit card (delivered) and a current account.
The opening of the account is estimated at 8 minutes, you will then have an identity verification to confirm the opening of the latter. You can open your account via this link. - https://n26.com/

Does this stack with the €15 referral available too?
i.e Can I send a referral to a buddy, get myself the €15 when they sign up and then they use the WELCOME26 code to get themselves the €20?

No issues. Texts/email & links all came through to my phone.

Five minutes total time invested. Code MERCI26 worked for me (other didn't).

    Thanks OP

The text is only a link to the App store.

Just download the n26 app manually from the app store.

I am having problems uploading my ID to verify account.

They couldn't scan my driving licence and now I want to upload my passport but I can't go back to that option as stuck on ID card option in the app.

I got onto life chat and since I have got an email from them as follows:

    Hey xxxx!

Thanks for your patience regarding your account.

I am happy to confirm that your verification process has been reset, and you should be able to try again with your passport after logging out and logging back in to the app.

If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to get back in touch with us. You can also find answers to most of your questions in our support center at https://n26.com/support/

    Have a great day,

App now reset and can upload passport as required.

total headache got onto live chat my passport is from diff country but issued in Ireland's embassy and they go we cant verify that. Told want my details wiped out clean and response was we will do that over weekend. Now i wouldn't give two craps but when i see Indian support handling personal details does not inspire trust for me, specially when it says on site they take passports and IDs  and the fcker who looked at my passport took his time, so personally this aint worth 10quid.

Plus noticed this in activation email:
Please note if you are an Irish resident: EUR 0,12 per withdrawal (max. EUR 5 p.a.) applies as stamp tax duty. This charge will be applied and automatically deducted from your account in January, always for the previous year.

wont affect those who use up cash but will cut out cash if any there id imagine come Jan if using it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,733 ✭✭✭caviardreams

The stamp duty is a government charge - N26 have no control over it - any bank regulated in Ireland have to charge that fee. It goes to the Irish government.

Same with Revoult, 12c on every ATM transaction etc.

So I don't even factor than in when using various online banks and comparing them.

Codes both worked for me but tenner. Still handy to have one when card is free, mostly use revolut but handy to have both

Passport validated overnight, account active now and Mastercard in the post, €10 free balance.

Handy to have a few options when travelling for the free ATM Withdrawals (5 a month when withdrawing Euros, 1.7% of amount drawn otherwise), so will use this as required

    Fee's here: https://docs.n26.com/legal/06+EU/01+Account/en/13account-pricelist-en.pdf

*I had problems uploading Driving Licence so I would recommend just use Passport if your okay with that and was easy then.

Thanks to OP for the heads up!

Signed up also, can I recommend a friend, they can claim the 10er, and then I get 15 refarrell, but it says they have to use their master card,
is there a minimum spend they need to do so I get the 15?

How soon did the signup bonus take to appear in your account?

Did it happen as soon as the account became active, or did you have to wait a period of time?

Was straight into my account once ID was verified. Can't see account balance until this is done, took about 8 hours from upload of passport.

My balance was there straight away, sign up and verification took about 15 mins

I must say I am disappointed with app. I'm not going into a N26 vs debate but revolut seems far more workable on app. Or am I missing things? Can u have a different currency wallet and view current exchange rates on N26?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭Cheers!

So there's no government stamp duty of €40 per annum or anything on this MasterCard is there?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,680 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

If its the same as revolut, then no as its a foreign prepay card.

The foreign prepaid card has nothing to do with how Irish tax is calculated.

In this case (and in revolut) they are classified as atm/debit by the Irish Government so you only pay the 12 cent ATM withdraw tax.

N26 used to be classified as credit so it was the full stamp duty, but they corrected that a while ago.

These work with Apple Pay and Android pay for those who are BOI custmeors etc. it’s a godsend.

Oh and I think the app is streets ahead of the Irish Banks apps. This isn’t Revolut. It’s a full online bank account.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 793 ✭✭✭ImARebel

So is this card seen as Irish?

Reason I ask, went to pay for spotify using my revolut card and it wouldn't take it said the country of the card didn't match the country of my account (Ireland)

So I just wondered if I signed up to this could I use it as an "irish" card or would I get the same problem?

Viewed as a German card as your IBAN starts with DE

But will come with problems as many organisations wont recognise the German Origin of the account. (rightly or wrongly) Its not all a rose garden.

I bought a product in March on Amazon, it stopped working about two weeks ago, contacted Amazon and they said that they would issue a refund. I never saw the refund appear and got no notifications, but when I go back to the date that I bought the product (12th March) the refund appears there...

Is this standard? It's a bit annoying, I still don't know If I actually got the refund or not.

Not worried. Already have Revolut and only signed up for this as it is also completely free and they gave me a tenner. I'll wait patiently :D

Got mine today too, transparent looks different. It's a very different beast to revolut, seems more normal bank

Same here. Just activated it with the app. Couldn't be easier. Might come in handy when making a big purchase abroad and just a Revolut card (max €5,000 payment) might not be enough.
