for contributory pension purposes 1984 to 1988 self employed years missing

    I was a PAYE worker for first 12 years of my working life up to 1984. Then self employed from then onwards. As Self-employed people have only had to pay social insurance since 1988 I am missing 4 years 1984 to 1988
    Should those 4 years be discounted when averaging my total contibutions?
