So they're going with a 52,000 seater stadium at BMD. Probably the right call, while a 60,000 seater might sell out for the first few seasons, there'd be a risk of having 10k empty seats after that every week. Plus they are planning to design it in a way that capacity can be upped to 62,000 down the line if demand is there consistently.

The big downside to the announcement that I noticed was when the planning application was to be made. I was sure they'd been saying by the end of the summer 2019, now they're saying the second half of 2019. While that could still mean the end of the summer, it reads as if it's been pushed out a little already. I still won't believe it's actually happening until they apply for the planning (which will include how they are going to finance it).

So our fictitious, never to be built stadium will have a capacity of 52,000 and if demand is there(even though the stadium will never be) the capacity can be increased to 62,000.
    I can't wait

    Yawn

    :(

    :(

They’ve spent a lot of fictitious money (about £11m in the last year alone) on this so called fictitious stadium.

The delay is partially because Liverpool has retained its World Heritage Site status - all development plans for the Central Docks have to be signed off by UNESCO. In October it was revealed that docks development plan had been revised so that the WHS status could be retained - the powers that be weren't happy with big tower blocks were going to be built along the water front.

The proposed stadium development will be the last portion developed so any delays in other areas will have a knock on effect. The delay also gives Everton FC the opportunity to come up with the money to fund its share of the development costs.

don't worry , they will call for more fan consultation which might push it back to 2020 - this has been going on since 1996, when they started looking for fan input - thats over 20 years ago; just bulid the thing , like most other clubs have done in that time. We're not cynical

i do agree with proposed capacity , dots in the stadium like at City dont look good.

While I wouldn't call it fictitious, the longer it is taking, the more expensive it will be, and the less likely. While some may look to our billionaire owner, and his multi billionaire friend, to come up with the financing, they didn't get that money by being stupid with it. The stadium will have to make business sense for them to proceed, and the higher the costs, the less business sense it will make. If they don't have planning permission by this time next year (have it, not just sending in an application), then I can't see it happening. It'll be like Liverpool's move to Stanley Park, or our own previous move to the King's Dock...

Construction costs in the UK might plummet in the aftermath of brexit

Luckily we've usmanov to supply the steel!

    Coleman needs to be replaced
Complete liability and allows Keane beside him become exposed
Pickford doesn't do the basics well enough

You boys were set up stupidly today but I’m gobsmacked to hear some Everton fans on other forums want Silva out. This fella is the right man for ye, give him a chance.

Do you think what happened to him in the derby has broken him? He's been shocking since.

We have less points than we had on Christmas Day 2017

But for the moment, I’m holding onto how we were looking for a couple of months before the derby. That late goal at Anfield has cost us a lot more than 1 point. We’ve totally lost our way since!

There’s no way al 4th managerial sacking in two and a half years should be contemplated as a solution!

They’ve been set up that way for 3 seasons. It’s a bit of a joke at this stage.

In other news, Coleman is done. Great servant but unfortunately post injury has lost the extra tenacity that made up for his lack of technical ability.

Unfortunately I agree about Coleman. Injury has ruined him and needs to be replaced.

Yeah I have to say I hadn’t seen much of Everton this season but had heard stuff in the media about Coleman not being the same. He was pretty dreadful yesterday. If that’s how he’s playing regularly, he won’t last long more at Everton.

Hard to take how far we've fallen off Spurs in the last four/five years.

I think we missed the boat when we didn't make it to the Champions League group stage in 2005.
It was the next logical progression in our period of 'success' and it all went kind of down hill since then.

    Oh what could have been....

Doesn't take that much to turn it around. We were pretty much treading water in the AVB/Tactics Tim season, got the right man in and within 12 months we were right up there challenging.

Everton have a decent squad and a good manager with, seemingly, a good chunk of cash to build a squad. It might seem a long way away now but I could see you boys challenging the top 6 over the next couple of years. I'd hope so because it's pretty galling to see lottery-winning clubs like Chelsea and City dominating and Everton not at the top table.

    2005?

As in that fluke season thirteen years ago?

Making the group stages then would arguably have been meaningless. The squad was paper thin and would have been exposed mercilessly. As it was just Europa involvement had Everton near relegated.

No Moyes built a much better side in the following years. A side that was routinely top 6/7. There were quite a few years towards the end of his time where there was nothing really between Everton and Spurs.

It's been downhill ever since Martinez' second season.

Some promising early signs this season but we've been in freefall since that Derby.

Difficult spot now for Silva. Will he or won't he drop the club captain?

Who do you replace him with? Kenny? No thanks. The Derby has destroyed our season unfortunately. I'd expect 5/6 changes for Wednesday. Mina will have to come back in

    I don't know.. maybe a back three

We're not in great shape on the right. Don't think Walcott and Coleman have any sort of understanding.

The Derby really has taken its toll - from my playing days I remember confidence was everything , teams and players went on a roll - this everton squad is good, need the addition of a top striker a bit of confidence and they'll be ok - this season was always all about re-building , which meant good and bad runs - but hopefully steady progress. but that sucker late Liverpool goal really impacted the confidence of this squad.

Striker and rb needed and some luck with injuries for rest of season. Hopefully Gomes injury not serious

Davies needs a loan to the championship. If gueye is injured I’d rather see James Mc in there at the minute. Has beningame recovered yet?

Needs to shake it up a bit and add some bite until confidence returns

    Where was lookman yesterday?

did we not offer Coleman a contract extension after the injury ?, I know i fealt at the time he may never get back to his best , as it was a truly horrific break.

crisis over !! its going to be one of those seasons of stop/start , but I believe we are on the right path.

Delighted , no doubt Dyche will be moaing on about injustices , they have become my leat favourite team

Only saw the second half but they looked solid. Great reaction to the Spurs match. They need to keep getting results now and there’s a few games coming up with points on offer.

I know some Everton fans who hated Allardyce and wanted Sean Dyche to get the job. He's cut from the same cloth tbh, pure hoof ball.

Random question for Toffees fans on here....I want the black away kit, will it have the Angry Birds logo on the sleeve? Anybody ordered it? That logo would put me off :D

Got what we deserved. Everyone bar Silva saw the goal coming we had nothing in midfield yet waits till we concede to change it. Needs to be proactive not reactive.

    Another garbage performance and result.

Glad to see the back of 2018.

How Walcott played 90 mins I will never know. And I hate to say it but Seamus is done :( We really need a quality striker in asap

the story of Walcotts carrer - new club , plays brilliant , half a season in and he just gives up - another of Big Sams follys - his 2 signings last year, were not the master-strokes many suggested - 12 months in I wouldnt mind seen the back of both of them

Normally I'd have said he has a pass for this season, but it's almost impossible to predict what Moshiri will do. He tends to be very reactive from what I've seen so far since he came on board...
I'm still not fully sold on Silva, but I think he should be given more than half a season to prove himself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,668 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

Watching them here - far too easy to defend against

Sit back against a slow moving slow passing predictable Everton - easy

And they look susceptible to the counter almost every time Leicester have the ball

    Bernard is gak

Well all my good will towards Silva has gone. The last two performances have been pathetic. If we include Spurs in the last four it gives you a flavor of how bad it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,231 ✭✭✭Hercule Poirot

Think it's a bit early to be writing Silva off, there was always going to be time when the Honeymoon period came to an end - if performances continue to be this poor for the rest of January then I'd be worried

Question is what can we do? The solution can't be changing the manager every season, because that doesn't seem to be working so far...

That's not really an option for us this season I don't think. Who could we get? Nobody proven will come, and anybody with genuine potential will go somewhere that they'd be given time to complete a turnaround. If we get rid of Silva now, we'll be looking for our sixth manager in three years since Moshiri came on board (counting Unsworth even though he was a caretaker, but only counting him once even though he's done it twice in that period). Who would take that job? Only someone more interested in a nice payoff rather than progression for Everton would be likely to come...
