It is interesting to read the global sports salary survey for the Premier league.

Spurs spend only slightly more than us but are miles ahead in the league.
At the same time West Ham only spend slightly less and their points total and squad is considerably poorer.

It really highlights what managers are under/overperforming.
I guess transfer fees also need to be factored in.

But we already have Lookman, you're talking about selling Walcott. Who would we replace him with. Personally, I'd like to see Everton break the bank to sign Hirving Lazano.

I didn't say anything about selling Walcott. He needs benching for a while

Spurs are notoriously low payers though, Levy must have some hold over them, Eriksen and Kane could easily double their wages elsewhere

I do apologise. I misread that post :)

I believe their base wage is very low. But their bonus structure is huge. Win bonuses, goal bonuses, appearance bonuses and so on.

So they could probably earn more elsewhere, but judging it on weekly wage is deceptive.

Welp Derby day is upon us and I'm more confident than I've been in a long time of a good result. But we never win there and this is Everton so hope for the best, prepare for the worst lol.

Supporting Everton is like some low budget 80's horror movie. You're out for a drive in the country on a beautiful day everything is fine then boom, you're hanging from a meat hook and some dude is wearing your skin as a onesy.

    Play well

    Concede soft goal

    Finishes 2-0

I think these two posts sum up everything perfectly :D

We've been improving in this regard quite a bit recently. I have the hope mentioned above, which could lead to the meat hook also mentioned above :p

    Walcott doesn't offer much.

Everything breaks down as soon as he has it

really is the story of Walcotts career - no doubt he has talent, but lacks application/dedication to push on to be a really top player - started of great at arsenal, supposed Henry successor , and then just faded

Pickfords distribution has been utter shoite

Either in to the stand or into Allison's feet

There's a touch of Joe Hart in Pickford.

    Comical stuff

There Everton defenders didn't bother marking when the ball was in the air

    And the ball was out

I can't blame the Everton defenders on that one. It was all Pickford's.

He has gotten away with a few poor decisions recently so was due.

Yeah seems to get distracted easily and loses focus, he'll be in a Head & Shoulders add next.

Shame really as Andre Gomes, Bernard and Mina all put in really good shifts.
Lookman looked lively too when he came on.

Yes it would have been then but my Nope was to you saying it was over the line so no goal.

The positive is that Everton gave one of the best away performances in a derby in a long time against one of the best Liverpool teams in that time.

The negative is that it’s Everton and we’re getting use to the bull****.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 14,765 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dcully

As a pool fan i thought Everton were excellent throughout and gave us a real workout.
We got lucky in the end but Mane should have scored atleast two but overall a draw may have been a fair result as Alisson yet again proved his worth today but ill take the win to keep pressure on City.
In Silva i think yee have a really good manager and yee play some good football.

Exactly, rather have today's events than the previous performances served up. Played well, deserved better, ship happens.

I'd easily take today versus the 1-1 in the same fixture last year.
We were dire then and deserved nothing and would have gotten nothing only for Lovren's brain freeze moment.

Draw would have been fair. Ye played really well today and probably the best performance I've seen from Everton in Anfield. Definitely going in the right direction though and should be very close to EL places if you don't get it this year.

I'll say it again.. we need to sign Gomes now.

    Cool, composed and skillful.

    And excellent positional sense.

Should have had a goal today but for pure pox.

This time two years ago, Mane scored in the 95th minute at goodison...1-0

Last January, Van Dijk scored in the 85th minute....2-1

    Today, 95th minute again...1-0!

Maybe there's a little something more than luck at play!

In fairness, if he'd knocked it back for a corner, and Liverpool scored from that, he'd have been criticised. If it had been left, with that spin on it, it would likely have bounced back into play. It was a very unlucky goal, and while there were lots of things that could have happened differently, in the heat of the moment Pickford was unlucky.

It was a great performance. The only complaint I'd have was that there weren't enough shots. A bit too often, players took an extra touch in front of goal, maybe looking for a pass, and lost the opportunity. I'd have liked to see them shoot a bit more. We definitely need a proper goalscorer. Richarlison is better out wide, and will score lots of goals from there, but he's not a 20 goal a season man, and we need one of those.

If we signed Gomes and Zouma permanently, along with a couple of good forwards capable of 15-20 goals each, then I think we'd be serious challengers for the top 4 already. It was a much better performance than last season, we played to win, and where not just unlucky to lose, we were unlucky not to have won! How long is it since we could say that about a match in Anfield?

The ball was going on to the roof of the net. No levels of spin were bringing that back into play.

Great performance, very proud of the boys - nothing like the usual tentative, fearful nonsense we usually serve up at Anfield

Regarding Pickford, I was raging at him, called him every name under the sun for about twenty minutes but he's the best keeper we've had in years and as others have said hopefully this takes his arrogance down a peg or two

We move on, we go again, the future is looking bright

we seam a million miles away from last year when we lacked any direction - Silva has given us shape and direction - think pickford will learn from today (hopefully) and get back to what he is good at - a top class striker for Christmas and get that stadium built (rather than the never-end fan consultations) - and I'll be happy (Everton wise

It was going to hit the top of the bar, as every replay clearly showed...

It might have clipped the back of the bar at best

    Was never spinning back

    Just a poor decision

    Better luck next year hopefully

    New striker required

Pickford has earned a bit of grace at the very least, couldn't have timed it worse in a derby though but meh.
