I think its 20/80 nature and nurture, what do you think?

My guess is born. There are some very psychotic infants out there before nurture has even gotten a chance to kick in.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

A lot of the ones bad enough to become infamous had pretty fuked up childhoods so I'm gonna go with nurture playing a big role

    Born.

Same with Narcissists and Sociopaths. Which I think are just terms for different types of arse holes/ evil people.

It's as though they fail to evolve emotionally beyond a certain level and are stuck in an almost toddler like state of egocentrism. My family is a viper's den of them and questioning the older generation it seems they were prevalent on both sides two generations back also.

Glad I never had kids and brought more of these monsters into the world.

Discussion: Why do you think that? What's the basis for the old reliable 80/20 split? Is there no full stop and only a question mark on your keypad?

I don't know from watching the show on Netflix about the creation of the behavioural analysis unit in the fbi (my apologies I can't think of the name.) They seem to think that their childhood has a massive impact on how the murders turned out.

Childcare professionals can usually tell by observation, particularly how they interact with their peers. Some get on fine, and play well; some don't and are selfish and aggressive.

    An old farm addage.
    Breeding beats feeding.

If you wonder why people behave in certain ways just get to know the parents. You'll see where the traits came from.

With kids now being born with addiction to awful stuff like heroin well, if they're born there's more to it than genes these days.
Genetics have a huge impact on us I read once that adoptive children exhibit more of their biological parents traits than their adoptive parents the older they become. Scarily that held true even where the adopted children had never even met their biological parents....

Interesting video on the difference between psychopath & sociopath
Consensus is that psychopath is born & sociopath is made (by upbringing, etc..)

    Nature or nature ?

Either way it's the parents fault.

People can change , but most don't so perhaps a culling in the last year of primary ?

fault can only be apportioned by assessing intention, in an adopted child's case, the biological parents can't be blamed if the child was given up at birth

Whoa, ease up on the personal attacks there. Sassy by name eh?

I was only helping you with your grammar!

Also, there's a great documentary about this... I think it was called Trading Places... might be a bit before your time.

wouldn't stand up to any scrutiny, adopted parents should have assesed situation properly before divulging

Jon Ronson wrote an excellent book on this subject called The Psychopath Test. Well worth a read but all of Ronson's stuff is great.

yes I agree, his test is only a guage though and many people who are no psychos fail this test but all research is useful

Are you talking about violent psychopaths?
I used to watch loads of documentaries about serial killers when I was younger and honestly it would stand out if the serial wasnt sexually/physically abused or neglected by their parent or guardian as a child

So given the above upbringing is relatively rare and how prevalent it is in history of violent psychopaths there just has to be strong links

Who knows it's a hypothetical question, like the original posters questions , born as a sico or created.
Personally I believe we are all born with it. It's part of the reasons we succeed as race ,I believe it's hard wired into us as a primeval survival instinct , but as we evolved it wasn't needed and something just triggers it, complected birth, nurturing or genetics or environmental affects, may be a trigger or maybe all combined

    born with what exactly?

Nurture starts at conception. Nine months inside psycho-mam exposed to her tantrums, drugs and alcohol is a good whack of it.

Pyschopaythic trait's and or tendencies hard wired into our brains and all it takes is something to turn on the switch

I think this too. There are many psychopaths out there who lead successful lives and don't commit acts of violence. In fact having sociopathic traits are said to be good for getting ahead in business. The ones that turned out to be serial killers etc usually had pretty ****ed up childhoods. For them it was the perfect storm of nature and nurture which pushed them into offending.

well obviously but thats because they were nurtured well isn't it? The 80/20 rule
