    Any big claims in?

Works out at €36 pet dog per month to be honest it’s not too bad my guys policy is now over €500 per year (with Allianz and claims)

    My dogs are crossbreads.
I had massive claims years and years ago which never really affected it. For two years in a row I maxed out the €4k limit!!! Premium never really changed that much.

Last year older dog had biopsies we paid out about €1000.
Last year younger dog became inconitent (we paid maybe €600) and has ongoing skin condition (haven’t put in anything yet on that as leave till end of year).
We got back €550 as we paid €100 excesses and 35%.

Josie is nine and a half and her policy with Allianz is up for renewal in November... Last year it was about €380. It's so tempting to cancel but she had a health scare recently which raised the possibility of her going on heart meds. She's 30kg so would have cost over €100 a month. I'm torn!

I used to have 3 dogs on the policy.....one dog had medicine that cost over €70 month so I claimed alot back on her.

I wouldn’t cancel my pet insurance I am just miffed why the big hike now?

I'm in the situation with Bailey that I wouldn't dream of questioning it with them because we've claimed so much and we never know what he has in store for us! I honestly expect him to be expelled every year when we get the renewal. If it was for Lucy and it jumped up for no reason I'd query it with them - I've heard of other people doing it and they lowered the price.

Agree, @Shakencat defo query it, we’ve not claimed yet either but our vet is putting in one for the X-rays and injections we had a few months ago as it is mounting up so I’d expect a rise at renewal.

But on the flip side our VHI went down which surprised me.

Good to have ya back Shakencat :)

As a matter of interest has anyone gone to the ombudsman about their increases in premium? Or just taken that that’s just it? I’ve currently just got a 46% increase on my dogs premium this year from €355 to €517 with only a few hundred euros claims during 2018. Coincidentally my dog has just turned eight years old....... I’m very upset about this as I’m thinking about increases over the next few years. I have sent in a complaint which they have brushed off. I just feel that they have got me by the short and curlys

Is it not like any policy, you claim, it goes up?Was always under the impression you should only claim when it's a few grand, not a few hundred.

    Can I ask what breed?

I’ve a nearly 14 year old cocker (with Allianz) who has a few health issues resulting in €3k ish claims each year for the last 3 years and his policy is €550 per year

Sometimes you need that few hundred back 😞

Absolutely, but in the long run, and by what many seem to be experiencing, claiming the few hundred results in paying an extra few hundred every year afterwards. But if it balances out then you have to see at it as a win, regardless of the premium hike.
