    Hi,

I am currently off work due to injury and need to claim illness benefit. Unfortunately I gave my original sick cert to my employers is there a work around this besides the obvious? I've heard photocopies aren't taken anymore.

    Thanks,

    Deborah

You can get an Illness Benefit claim form (IB1) and a social welfare medical certificate (MED1) from your family doctor (GP). You fill out the IB1 claim form and your doctor completes the MED1 medical certificate. Then you drop it into your local SW office. There’s no payment for the first 6 days but make sure it’s dated from the first day you were out sick. If you were injured at work or on an unbroken journey to or from work then it is injury benefit you are applying for.

Anyone think the guy I spoke to was telling porkies just to get me off the phone as he knew I was pissed off after calling 7 times and speaking to 7 differrent people

He seemed a bit slow and senile although he was able to tell me my exact bank details and that a payment was made this morning to my a/c

Why would the figure not show up?

Your sick cert is different and separate from what you need for IB.

I just went through this this last week after surgery.

Your GP will fill in a form and medical certificate for illness benefit, you need to post those to Dublin and then post new medical certificate every week.

They no longer accept the forms to be dropped in according to my gp.

You have 7 days to claim, but if you are late you can explain in your IB form and they might backdate it. First 6 days unpaid excluding Sunday which is not taken into account at all.

Right lads and ladies, we're back in the game

Just off the madra to a lovely lady in IB - basically KBC are c**ts and there'll be a payment of É1,960 in my bank account this afternoon

    Phew

Also ongoing payment of 198 into A/C every wednesday

Hi, sorry probably slightly off the subject but just wondering is it the norm to receive a review questionnaire from that section after less than 3 months on it and also it said there is a possibility you could get called for a medical assessment. This is what it said in the letter, just wondering if anyone else has experience with this? Thanks

In my experience 3 months is the usual time for being called to a review/medical assessment if you are a younger person (under 40) with a GP writing something non specific ( back pain, stress etc) on the cert.

Thanks for replying, I just have received the questionnaire to send back that I fill in? But it does say I can get called in for a medical assessment. It would come under the stress category.
