VAT query

    Hi There,


    Can someone please help me a vat query?


    We would make some small payments to the UK with our visa card or credit card and pay in sterling they are usually once off payments i.e purchase of a book from amazon for company use. The company we purchased from charges us VAT as they did not have our VAT number and I didn't purchase the item, can you confirm if I am allowed to convert the vat charged into euro using the exchange rate on the particular day and claim it back on the vat return?

    No unfortunately only Irish VAT can be recovered on an Irish VAT return.

    Not on your vat return but through the EVR.

    Hi Relax Carry On,

    I don’t believe the U.K. VAT can be recovered via the EVR as U.K. has been incorrectly charged. The only way the VAT can be recovered / avoided is if the supplier reissues the invoice without U.K. VAT.
