What are the future penalties with SUSI/BTEA if I drop out of college?

Hi all. I'm still in the process of trying to organise myself financially this year. I'm considering deferring my course as it looks very likely that I will receive no notice of funding from anywhere before my deferring window closes. I really would not like to do this, as starting college somewhere new has given me a bit of a new lease in life and I'm feeling optimistic. The financial aspect is seriously dragging me down though.

I'm wondering what the repercussions could be with SUSI and/or BTEA if I drop out of college after the period of deferral. When I speak of repercussions here, I mean my future eligibility for both services. It should be noted that I am not currently on BTEA and won't be for the foreseeable future, unless I start next year instead of this year. But I am receiving a grant this year. Does anyone know of the adverse affects of quitting in such a manner?
    Thanks

If you defer now your SUSI grant wont be effected and you will receive it next year but youre better off contacting SUSI and asking them as it may have changed since I was in college.
As for BTEA if youre on job seekers for the year prior to starting a third level course you will be entitled to BTEA.

What happens if I don't defer but quit? There's a good chance I'm going to meet a rock and a hard place around the time of deferral. I really wanna stay on but its looking less likely by the day. Assignments/exams are already on the horizon and my personal situation is unfortunately prioritising over them.

If you quit early in the year it shouldnt effect your Susi grant if you want to apply for it at a later time but dont just take my word, contact SUSI asap to be sure.
