    Eggington gone in rd 2.
Would have been earlier if the other guy had any power

Any idea what the odds were for Mwakinyo

Am I right in thinking Sam was 1/100 before the fight?

No sure but I'm nearly sure Sam was 1/100 on ladbrokes 30 mins ago. Some odds on Hassan ko rd2 I'd say.
Eggington looked unusual in there. Standing at the ropes, 1st round with guard Down getting slapped

Think the opponent was 16/1. Eggington hasn't progressed whatsoever. Zero defense.

Khan will cruise here, possibly get a stoppage after the mid rounds

And that's why Khan will never be a great, he's far too sloppy on the defense with a glass chin. He'll win this handily still but it's about his level.

Mad fight so far. Anything could happen

Will catch it on record. Khan’s finished. Never a real pro..

Khan's the exact same raw fighter with promise he was when he started, problem is that he's 31 and not 21 now. He's got bags of talent and glove speed but he's no discipline and hasn't improved or progressed as a fighter in a decade.

    Bags of what talent?

    He has speed...that’s about it...

Good/great pros have and need a lot more...

Vargas is not even a puncher

    Brook stops Khan.

Khan awful, last 4 rounds did nothing. Sky of course saying he's must see etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57,358 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Caught last 5 rds. Khan looked sh1t...clearly past his best..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,455 ✭✭✭weemcd

    Down!

NEVER doubt my ability to ghost ANYONE!

Khan made a real dogs dinner of that one, despite the score cards.

He shoulda had that wrapped up early and was on queer street twice. While no world beater I really liked Vargas there, hard head and never stopped. Could have got Khan out of there if there was another minute in the 10th.

    Think so..

Wouldn’t say that a few years ago..

Only issue I’d have is that Kell is flat footed and not a hunter...

Could definitely score a counter punch KO, but he’s not a big puncher...

****in Khan doing all he can to dodge Brook. Wants Manny...

if They don’t fight next that’s it then

these should of fought years ago - it’s real dragging on and by the looks of Amir tonight he is going to really struggle v brook

Still a fight I’d love to see but whoever loses now at this stage will have to retire

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,928 ✭✭✭Morrison J

Good fight that and the right guy won for sure. Good cards. No idea why Porter tried to box for the first three rounds. Basically gave them away. Once he did his usual and upped the output he was clearly the better fighter.

Very close fight. Overall I thought Danny deserved it. Controlled most of the rds...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Just watched it this morning, I had Garcia winning 115-113. Close fight though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57,358 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Garcia's problem is his overly casual/lack of urgency style. He just doesn’t grab a fight by the scruff and really take it to the foe..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,069 ✭✭✭ebbsy

Pac_man only has limited fights left.

And doubt if he will waste one of them on Khan.

Had it the same, 4-4 after 8 but I though Garcia won 9,10 and 12.

I’d be very disappointed with the judges if I was Garcia.

Kownacki vs Martin was a cracking fight although they are clearly both very limited.

I had it 115-113 Porter and feel he would have been hard done by if it was a draw or a Garcia win. Anyone catch Spence next to Porter after the fight? Spence looked a good weight class if not two bigger than Porter.

Only because Garcia usually gets gifted decisions right? ;):pac:

Very surprised some of you had it Garcia. Porter's body work was superb I thought.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,153 ✭✭✭✭normanoffside

    Those are the official cards.
For me the biggest surprise is that none of the judges gave Garcia all of the first 3 rounds. They all had it 2-1

Garcia also had plenty good body work too...

Garcia seemed to control most of the rds and the flow.

Thought Porter definitely controlled the flow. Garcia didn't like the pace. Porter took over from the middle rounds for me.

Was always going to be one of those fights where it depends on what you like. Porter was going to have the higher output, Garcia was going to land the cleaner more eye catching shots. Just thought overall Porter had the more success, especially to the body. Really enjoyed the fight actually.

Khan is great to watch no matter who he fights. I thought he looked alot more defensive minded under virgil hunter and thats what he needed. He needs someone to be constantly in his ear telling him to stay focussed and not lose concentration.

Great to watch because of his vulnerabilities?

I’m sick of watching him. Same repetitive pitter patter type punches and flow. Nothing to do with power, just his repetitive delivery and combinations..

He looks, I don’t know, clumsy!

Him and Brook at 147 I’d probably lean with Brook via TKO.

A Khan points win very likely...

In fairness Froch said he was pretty average and that the performance wouldn't be good enough to take on the best in the division. They have a point when they say he's must-see because he's just so vulnerable.

Even on Saturday when he was seven or eight rounds up you still couldn't be sure that he'd still be standing at the final bell. Froch said afterwards on an IFL interview that Khan is only back for one big final payday and has no interest in fighting Brook.

General feeling online is that Danny deserved the nod in that fight. I have to agree.....Porter was more keeping up I felt, volume or not....

Really? I haven't found much if anyone saying that, quite the opposite...lot of people seem to be applauding Porter and giving him the decision. I'd a quick look on reddit/boxing and another boxing forum and very few if any gave it to Garcia, in fact people said they were happy Porter wasn't "robbed" which is a little overkill but still...

Where? I haven't seen one poll online that's in Garcia's favour tbh. If its just general outcry then that's natural that theres going to be more posts giving out about the decision than complimenting it.

Was a close fight that can be fairly argued close for either side. I just don't think Garcia let his hands go enough in the end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,153 ✭✭✭✭normanoffside

For me the surprise in the judges scoring was them not giving Danny the first 3 rounds unanimously. I thought they were pretty clear (2 Judges gave porter the 2nd, the other the 3rd)
Porter was busier and probably threw/landed more punches but I felt Danny landed the clean, powerful and quality punches in those 3 rounds especially.

If the judges were always going to award busyness over accuracy then Garcia never had a chance. He just doesn't work enough under those parameters.

I had Garcia 115-113, was very surprised Porter got the UD. Danny was lazy during some rounds and gave them away, Porter did outwork him but the rounds Danny won he was landing much cleaner and Porters punches were just wild.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57,358 ✭✭✭✭walshb

My overall feeling was that when both were committing and giving it their best, Danny was the better man, and it was clear to see..
