Thermostat to Ideal Logic

All, I had an Ideal Logic installed with a new timer. I switched up the existing thermostat in the sitting room yesterday and it seemed to trip the mains board switch. What is causing this and does it mean my thermostat needs replacing as the plumber replaced the old program timer.
