R630 - Midleton to Whitegate

Campaign now in Cork to redesignate the R630 as a national route.

43,000 vehicles using the road seems a bit high to me, including 6,400 HGVs. I have trouble believing a number that high. I would imagine they are weekly figures.

If true, that's enough for it to be upgraded to motorway. The M630.

I cycle it pretty often and it doesn't feel anywhere near as bad/busy as the R624 Fota road section, or the R639, between Glanmire and Riverstown. There's priorities above this one IMO, even within East Cork. And then just think of the R600 to Kinsale for instance.

I'd believe the HGV number on a peak day but not sure about the rest.

43000 is the capacity of a motorway, the road would be permanently jammed if that were the case. I've never had any problems there ever, but have not done it at Rush Hour.

The R625 fota road and Belvelly Bridge replacement is far more important than this.

Turns out the AADT is over 9,000 vehicles a day. National primary road is out of the question here surely.

The only part of the road causing an issue is the Lakeview roundabout, if there's going to be a money spent on this road it should be spent upgrading the junction with the n25.
