    I don't know do any?

I've seen Cormac Tagging offer free replacement on Twitter if you return the broken tags to them. I left Mullinahone for Cormac this year. Mullinahone were a disaster for breaking.

Are the Cormac tags lasting better?

i was at a mart recently where i saw a bunch of cows with the white tag that your write the number on yourself. this was the replacement system they had. thought it was a good idea.

I've only tagged this year's calves with them and the few replacement tags I had to get on cows. Haven't lost any yet but it's probably too early to say. They do seem better quality. Numbers are easier to read off both sides and delivery was faster too.

I didn't love the actual taggers at first. It's a bit robust but when you get used to it it's probably faster. No fiddling removing that little spike and it holds the sample when you're done.

I’m two years into the Cormac tags and I know it’s early days but so far their way ahead.
Also took a bit of getting used to but no issues now.

I'd doubt very much that is legal!

I only need one set of replacement tags. I see postage is € 5.50 with mullinahone. Is it the same with Cormac?

5.95 if more than 10 sets of tags, 2.95 for less.
I downloaded their order forms last week, I'm fed up with Mullinahone so going to change for the new year.

I think there is a case to argue here about replacement tags. Tags are mandatory and there is only the two or so companies supplying them. If the Dept have approved them and they fall out then they are not fit for purpose. If this is the case why should we have to pay for them??? Either the tag company or the Dept should pay

Agree with you Cattlepen - there are perfect holes left in the cattle's ear where the tag just died and dropped out. I have only one animal that has a torn ear where she obviously got caught in a bush or something and it pulled out. The rest are faulty tags. Anyway roll on Cormac tags and in a couple of years we will all be complaining about them or praising them to the highest!

Even if they get torn out I don’t think the cost should fall on the farmers.
They should come up with a flawless design if they want our money

Do you think its the size of the tags is the problem when it comes to them being torn out? The button tag seemed better than the huge ones we are using these days. Of course the big ones are easier to read from a distance.
I don't have a problem with the 'torn out' ones but it annoys the hell out of me having to go round every few months replacing the ones that have dropped out. I actually had a cow last year that had lost the back of her tag but the front bit was still holding in place. From what I could see the bar going through her ear was broken. Eventually it came away completely.

+1 on this. Wouldn’t go back to mullinahone even if they were free. Tagger more user friendly too and even easier to actually insert in the ear as they seem to be that bit more sharper than mull. .

Same as that , there are way less Cormac tags falling out.
I think the tagger is a bit too bulky but maybe that's just my short fingers. I must get a second one to make it quicker to tag when we have a calf caught

I'll give a thumbs up to cormac aswell. Don't think I had to replace on of their tags yet. Tagger is a bit bulky alright.

If you have sheepwire in the farm it’s a major problem with keeping tags in. I unfortunately have lots of it
