Ebay.ie or Ebay.co.uk for basic shop set up

    Hi Guys,

I am planning to set up an online business soon and Ebay will be a big part of it with a basic shop (to begin with).

Currently, I have a normal Ebay.ie account and was wondering if it makes a difference when I upgrade to a basic shop, if I do it on Ebay.ie or Ebay.co.uk?

My main market will be sales to the UK.

Some of my other questions are:

    1. Should I open a basic shop on Ebay.ie or Ebay.co.uk?
    2. I want to be doing my taxes in Ireland and not the UK, so does this make a difference?
    3. If I set up a basic shop on Ebay.ie, can I post listings to the UK site without been charged additional fees that are not included in the basic shop BIN insert fees etc?

    Any other advice is appreciated.

I used to have a second hand business before with brick and mortar so not worried about the buying and selling part so much, I am concerned if I am setting up correctly on the right Ebay site :)

    Thanks in advance

From my limited knowledge, you can set up a .ie account and sell and advertise in the UK, there is a setting somewhere where to show your ads.

As for taxes, you are based in Ireland so your income tax will be to Ireland, however, you are distance selling outside of Ireland so your VAT threshold may be lower, also, depending on how much you sell to the UK, you may have to pay VAT to them and not Irish revenue (or both)
